I hope I uploaded this to the most suited catagory, DA's submission form seems to change every time I upload a new deviation (Alright, that's REALLy not saying anything, this is my first deviation in like 4 months.)
An entry for 's contest. One had to draw at least two of his characters in a picture with the theme 'having a good time'. In between the crazy amount of work and teen angst that has been my life for the past couple of months I managed to get an idea; a diving contest. Righty-o, so we have Trevor Quokka trying to impress Janice Wolfcoot with an awesome splash and Abe Wolf in the foreground there getting ready to be soaked. ^^ Sorry for Carmenifying all your characters into my style, Youngbow.
I know, I know, something very alarming seems to be happening to the left end of the bridge... its started to wander into The Persistence of Memory or something. ^^ And I'm not very confident with special effecting it up in Photoshop but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
I'm really sorry for not being around, my exams end on the 21st so after that I'll be free to get back on DA and catch up with y'all.
As always, critique is invaluable and appreciated!
Trevor, Janice and Abe (c) of
Very nice picture. The colors are great, nice and bright. Creates a nice atmosphere. A lazy summer afternoon. The water itself looks quite nice too. The transparency you added is a good touch.
Wow, now THAT is a way to burst out of a non-uploading phase.
It's really awesome, I love the scene, the character's poses and expressions, everything. I also like how you positioned the characters, the picture has a good flow to it. The colours you chose totally fit, too! They're really warm and colourful. The water effects also look totally amazing, very, very fancy. And the little lovers' etchings are a very nice touch as well.
Critique-wise...
Trevor's torso is too short, first of all. It seems his chest just goes straight into his butt & legs, there is no belly.
Janice doesn't really appear to be sitting on the pier. Something about it just doesn't look right to me, it's kind of hard to tell what causes it. I tried doing a lineover, I hope it helps... [link]
Also, her left arm's upper arm seems a bit too short, not by much, but it's still there.
The only other thing that bothers me is the (higher) pier, and how it's tilted downwards. Now, I haven't ever seen a pier like that, so I'm assuming it's a perspective error, but I'm ready to be proven otherwise.
I love this picture. <3 Its so light and airy~ It has a great mood.
The only pressing thing I see wrong with it is the perspective of the peir... it looks kinda flakey. >>'
I love all the detail in it though, like the little engravings in the wood. The whole "CD 4 PM" made me lol. <3

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
